Maintaining law & order, better investigation, safe & secure environment to women & weaker sections among top priorities for new Haryana top cop

Says would ensure to make all necessary possible arrangements to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections in Haryana

A 1988-batch IPS Officer Manoj Yadava assumed the charge of Director General of Police (DGP), Haryana at State Police Headquarters in Panchkula on Thursday.



While interacting with media persons, the newly appointed DGP said that maintaining law and order, effective prevention and detection of crime, better investigation, providing safe and secure environment to women and weaker sections of the society would be among his top priorities.

He also mentioned that General Parliamentary Elections are round the corner, thus he would also ensure to make all necessary possible arrangements to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections in the state.

Describing Haryana Police as one of the best police force, Yadava said that it was an honour for him to serve as DGP of Haryana. He also recalled when he began his career in Haryana Police. There have been lot of initiatives that have been undertaken by Haryana Police in the past, which were extremely laudable. We will further try our best with the help of citizens to strengthen them besides initiating new ones as time progresses, he stated.

In reply to a question, the DGP said that Haryana is my home and he has never remained untouched with the state.

“While being on deputation at Centre, I have been in touch with senior functionaries of state police force”, he added.

When asked about the police arrangements in the light of recent terrorist incident in Pulwama, he said that terrorism does not believe any border or jurisdiction. We are fully geared up and emphasis would be given on capacity building in police force. STF had already been set up headed by an IGP level officer. Proposal for setting up Anti-Terrorism Squad and Quick Response Teams is under active consideration of the State Government. Police will take all necessary steps in this direction.

On being asked to comment on efficiency of State Intelligence, the DGP said that intelligence wing of Haryana Police is one of the best in the country. To make better coordination with the central intelligence agencies will also be our priority.

He had served as ASP Hansi, Sirsa, Ambala, Additional SP Rohtak, SP Security, Traffic and Crime UT Chandigarh. Before going to central deputation, he also served as SP Fatehabad, Panipat, Panchkula and Ambala. Apart from this, he has also served as Contingent Commander, Indian Civil Police Contingent to UN Mission in Kosovo.

Yadava was also awarded the UN Peace keeping medal in recognition of efforts towards setting up the fledgling Kosovo Police Service. Apart from this, he has also been decorated with the Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service, President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Services, Police Hard Duty Medal with Bar and seven commendation certificates from IB.

Originally from Aligarh UP, Manoj Yadava was born in 1965; has Masters in Economics (Gold Medalist). Apart from this, he also received MBA (Gold Medal) from Aligarh Muslim University.

Apart from this, Yadava has also authored a book titled “History of Haryana Police”.
