In a late night development, the Congress left the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and all the opposing parties stunned by announcing the former Haryana minister as its candidate for the by-election to be held on January 28.

Presently, a Congress legislator from Kaithal Assembly segment, Randeep is considered to be a game changer for the coming by-election to be held in ‘Jatland’ of Haryana, so far is taken as a stronghold of the state’s principal opposition party, INLD.

The ruling BJP has fielded Krishan Midda as its candidate for the said by-election. He is son of Harichand Midda, a two-time INLD MLA from Jind.

The said assembly seat got vacated after the death of Harichand Midda. His son then joined the BJP.
